Captain Richard Haven Vandyke of Salt Lake City, UT, was a crewmember of an F-4D that was lost on 11 September 1968 over North Vietnam. During egress he suffered a broken leg. He was captured by the North Vietnamese, his leg was amputated, and he died of his injuries in captivity while being held in An Vihn.
His remains were returned on 7 August 1981.
He attended high school in Virginia, spent two years at Florida University, and graduated from the University of Colorado. |
